WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN THE ROAD 🛣💥
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
"(...) And it is in this life that you walk by faith, and prove yourself able to choose good over evil. Right over wrong. Enduring happiness over meer amusement. And your eternal reward will be according to your choosing."
-Man's Search for Happiness (1986)
What's cracking ladies and gentlemen. Another weekly email is upon us. To call a spade a spade there weren't a whole bunch of large events from the week, but a week is a week! I was never one to shame a 7-day cycle and I'm not gonna start now, so let's give her the credit she deserves.
This week we were like, actually saved by an angel woman. So there we were, walking the streets doing our thing, on the way to visit someone. Right as we were arriving at the person's house, underneath the person's car we heard a low growling, which was sorry news cause I left my rabid dog repellent at home. Out of nowhere, this dog starts coming towards us, looking at us like 2 tasty steaks ripe for the picking. Just as we were about to accept our fate, out of left field this short, stout senhora from next door lumbers on over with a mean mug and a wooden pole in hand.
This dog chose to the wrong day to try and growl at people because this lady was not in the mood. She started SWATING this mutt at full brazilian woman force with the wooden pole she had, and I mean really showing that dog who the missionaries should REALLY be afraid of. She was treating that canine worse than Laman treated Nephi soon after their second attempt to get the plates didn't do the trick. The wooden pole full on broke in half cause of the force she was hitting the dog. It was so random, funny, frightening but also in a certain sense inspiring.
Although it was a moment that was crazy and out of nowhere, it was a tender mercy to me that someone was there to help defend us. I don't know for certain whether that woman really was an angel sent by heavenly father, she probably really was just angry and that dog did it for her, but I do know for certain that God is aware of his missionaries. I don't know how known this event from the week was, but there were 2 Elders serving in Curituba who were hit by a drunk driver. The car hit them almost directly - one of them rolled off the side into another car and the other crashed through the windshield. The car was moving at a high speed and the Elders certainly wouldn't have broken bones, or possibly even died.
However, neither of them died. Never of them had any series injuries, or from what I know didn't even break any bones. They were completely protected. The Lord is aware of his missionaries, as well as all of his children! Miracles happen every day to bring the lord's work to pass. This event was a reminder of that, but I also witness that every week here on the mission.
Love you all! Thanks for reading, shoot me an email if you can. Until next week
