March 30: Land of the Baguda

Whats up family! This week was like, INSANELY super duper good. Elder Doman & I have got our rythym working and we were doing our thing like normal, but the Lord went all out on blessing and changing the hearts of the people here in Milagre. We saw some seriously massive miracles!

Tuesday we had our first district meeting with everyone in person! Capanema (the 2 sisters on the right) made the trip down and it was a fun time. Definitely better than online! (Also gotta give pose cred to Elder Schudde, tryna be like you bro πŸ‘‘)

Ok then Thursday bright and early we got a bus and headed on over to a city called "BraganΓ§a" !! This place is legitimately so beautiful. Had the priviledge to do a division with and see some of the boys (shoutout E. Porter, Brewer, Jones & Sanquist πŸ•΄πŸ•΄πŸ•΄πŸ•΄) There's also this thing we eat in food all the time called "Farinha" which's like this yellow powder/pebbles we put in food to give it some crunch. Apparently BraganΓ§a has the best that there is to offer, so I copped myself a sack of Farinha (they call it Baguda) and now I'm carrying around a bottle of it wherever I go in case there's an emergency and someone needs Farinha. You can never be too careful. The division was amazing though, love these guys!

Ok so perhaps I bent the truth a bit, but that's how I'll remember the division with the APs started. I got to spend another day with Elder Emett! 4th division in the mish bro, and they get better each time. It was a super fun day and I'm super grateful for Elder Emett's friendship, sense of humor and example!

Together during the day, him and I learned a lot about the importance of repentance. Seeing real-time the difference it can make in the lives of other people. As we focused on Repentence, and teaching doing the right things for the right reasons, being love for the savior, we saw a massive difference in the work.
People payed more attention to our message and our invites, people have been fulfilling invites more, and we had over 10 folks with us at church this sunday. We even invited one of our buddies, named week, who hasn't been feeling ready for baptism to be baptized this week! We explained what the Savior's taught are the signs of a heart ready for baptism, had him interviewed, and by Saturday he said he was ready for baptism on Sunday.
Sunday the font had already been cleaned but we forgot to fill it up with water πŸ˜… so we had to last minute fill up the whole font in like 20 minutes. Everyone has hauling buckets of water and laughing it was so funny hahaha, but wouldn't want to make that mistake again.

Alma tells us about the story of the Anti-Nephi Lehites, and their conversion story. They were once a violent people, but because of their love for the Lord they wanted to change their ways permanently. They didn't just make empty promises to the Lord, but they acted so that they wouldn't fall back into their old ways. It says in Alma 25;

14 And they did also bury their weapons of war, according as their brethren had, and they began to be a righteous people; and they did walk in the ways of the Lord, and did observe to keep his commandments and his statutes.

I testify once again of the importance of repetance, and following the commandments for love of the savior! With general conference coming up, I invite you to reflect on where your relationship with the savior is currently, and think about what habit or behavior YOU can offer to the Lord to be able to grow closer to him.
As you do this, you will gain the same testimony I've gained and see the blessings that come through align our will with his.
